The New England School of Communications (NESCom) required a high-end video production switcher for its mobile production truck that was both powerful and had a simple interface to facilitate a quick learning curve for its students. To meet this challenge, the school partnered with vendor Grass Valley and implemented the Karrera Video Production Center to prepare students for real-world broadcasting careers.

Grass Valley's Karrera solution provided an intuitive, software-based switcher that was compact enough for the mobile truck yet powerful enough for professional-grade production. The result was an ability for students to quickly master basic and complex production functions, such as making quick transitions, which directly prepares them to be productive in the broadcasting industry from their first day on the job.
