A Grass Valley Case Study
Mobile TV Group (MTVG), a major US-based provider of mobile production units for live sports and events, faced the challenge of building a new mobile unit that was agile enough to meet evolving production demands. Their clientele needed the flexibility to handle any resolution, scale for various event sizes, and seamlessly transition to formats like 4K UHD. MTVG opted to build one of the industry's first end-to-end SMPTE ST 2110-based native IP production environments. For this initiative, MTVG partnered with vendor Grass Valley for their production switchers and cameras.
Grass Valley equipped MTVG's new 45 FLEX unit with a Kayenne K-Frame X multiformat IP production switcher, along with a range of LDX 86 Universe and LDX 82 Première cameras with IP connectivity. This end-to-end open standards IP solution from Grass Valley provided the format-agnostic and future-ready environment MTVG required. The results gave MTVG the ability to easily scale productions, add more cameras or resources, and seamlessly upgrade systems, allowing them to confidently meet any client request. The agility of the IP core, powered by Grass Valley technology, ensures the unit can adapt to the changing needs of the market.
