Italy’s NVP Chooses Grass Valley AMPP for Lega Pro’s Live Football Match Productions

NVP, an Italian live video production company, faced the challenge of needing to quickly scale its operations to handle a high volume of new business from Lega Pro, Italy's third-tier football league. The project required producing 1,100 matches over ten months, often with 30 matches in a single weekend, and NVP had to build the new production capabilities from scratch within a tight two-to-three week deadline. To meet this urgent need without disrupting its existing high-end productions for Serie A and B, NVP turned to vendor Grass Valley and its Agile Media Processing Platform (GV AMPP).

Grass Valley's GV AMPP provided a fully cloud-native solution, enabling NVP to handle all Lega Pro production and distribution remotely and cost-effectively. The solution involved setting up 12 operator galleries, eight of which can produce games simultaneously, using a pay-as-you-go model where costs are only incurred during active productions. This allowed a single operator per gallery to manage the entire broadcast. The successful implementation allowed NVP to capitalize on the new Lega Pro opportunity, efficiently manage the diverse requirements of all three football leagues at once, and has become a core technology for NVP's planned expansion to new locations.
