Discovery, Inc., a global leader in real-life entertainment and the home of the Olympic Games in Europe, faced the challenge of producing and distributing content to 50 markets in 20 languages for the Tokyo 2020 and Beijing 2022 Olympic Games. Their existing disparate production systems and growing number of remote team members required a unified solution that could scale without sacrificing quality or speed.
Grass Valley implemented its cloud-native GV Media Universe platform, including the new AMPP Asset Management, LiveTouch replay, and AMPP Edge, to create a centralized and flexible system. This solution managed over 350 simultaneous recordings and provided over 1,300 users with immediate, language-localized access to content from anywhere. The results were record-breaking, with Discovery engaging over 156 million Europeans via digital platforms during Beijing 2022, streaming one billion minutes (a 19x increase), and achieving an 8x increase in streaming viewers.
