BCE & RTL Group Building IP Based Production Systems

Broadcasting Center Europe (BCE), a major European broadcast and technical service provider, faced the challenge of building a fully IP-based production system for the new RTL City headquarters. They needed a future-proof solution that offered the same reliability as their existing SDI infrastructure and required a technology partner who could meet tight deadlines. BCE selected Grass Valley, whose comprehensive IP portfolio and adherence to open standards, was chosen to provide the end-to-end IP routing core for the massive project.

Grass Valley implemented a complete IP solution, including their routing system, Kahuna production switchers, and IP multiviewers, all built on a flexible and resilient 40 GbE architecture. The system supported over 2,400 video flows and enabled a seamless migration path to future standards. The results were a highly reliable and scalable infrastructure that ensures BCE can continue to deliver exemplary service. Grass Valley’s technology and collaborative approach provided BCE with the future-proof flexibility to set up new channels in a fraction of the previous time.
