A Graphisoft Case Study
T.R. Partners Architectural Design Co. took on the Liuzhou Yaobu Ancient Town Sightseeing Pavilion — a 4,580 m², 33 m high Tang‑style project — and faced the challenge of translating traditional Chinese cai‑fen modular rules, complex dougong (bracket) assemblies, curved roof geometry and diverse historic railings into a BIM workflow. To meet this, the firm adopted Graphisoft tools, notably ARCHICAD with GDL scripting and BIMx, to reconcile ancient construction logic with modern information modeling.
Using Graphisoft’s ARCHICAD and BIMx, T.R. Partners developed parametric GDL libraries and 15-category galleries covering Tang, Song, Ming and Qing elements, plus algorithms for bracket sets, roof trusses and hotspot-driven railings. The Graphisoft-enabled solution allowed fast, adjustable roof construction, automated railing node/infill generation, improved client review on mobile via BIMx, and standardized module-based detailing across projects — delivering accurate historic detailing at scale for the Liuzhou pavilion and supporting restoration and repeatable ancient‑style design.
