Strada transforms a 500,000 sq ft power station into a mixed-use destination with Graphisoft

Strada, a multidisciplinary design studio, faced the challenge of adaptively reusing a massive 1920s power station in Philadelphia. The project required transforming the derelict industrial landmark into a human-scale, mixed-use destination despite limited historic documentation and complex approvals. Strada utilized Graphisoft's Archicad and BIMcloud to tackle this through team-led BIM.

Using Graphisoft's solutions, Strada created an accurate BIM model from point cloud scans and used 3D visualization in Archicad to explore design options and drive decisions. BIMcloud enabled seamless collaboration across offices. This workflow was critical for creating sight-line studies to gain project approvals. The result was the successful transformation of the 500,000 sq ft building, named The Battery, into a vibrant mixed-use venue completed in 2024, showcasing an award-winning example of adaptive reuse.
