South Staffordshire College transforms a 1,740 m² granary into an award-winning academy with Graphisoft

South Staffordshire College faced the challenge of transforming a derelict historic granary into a modern, high-tech learning center for its AgriSTEM Academy. The project required carefully integrating new educational facilities with the existing heritage structure. The architect, maber, utilized Graphisoft's Archicad BIM software to tackle the complex design and renovation.

Using Archicad, the team created an accurate 3D model from historic drawings, which was crucial for planning the structural reinforcement, sustainable material selection, and energy-efficient upgrades while preserving the building's character. Graphisoft's tools, including BIMx, also aided in client visualization. The completed AgriSTEM Academy, an award-winning building, provides state-of-the-art training spaces. The project was recognized as the Graphisoft Sustainable Project of the Year in 2019.
