Obayashi Corporation of Japan partnered with HDR|Rice Daubney on the Build Sydney Live 2013 challenge to design a new International Convention Centre for Sydney under a tight 48-hour deadline. The team had to coordinate across Australia and Japan while working with more than 10 different software tools, making efficient BIM collaboration a key challenge. Graphisoft’s Archicad Teamwork through the BIM Server was central to their Open BIM workflow.

Using Graphisoft Archicad Teamwork as the main authoring and coordination platform, the teams were able to quickly align workflows, share models, and manage communication across different software packages. The collaboration ran smoothly “without any issues or problems,” and the result was a win for Best Use of BIM for Design, Drama, and Excitement. Their success demonstrated the value of Graphisoft’s Open BIM approach in enabling effective international teamwork and translating between multiple BIM tools.
