Case Study: Nikken Sekkei Ltd. achieves BIM-driven digital transformation with Graphisoft

A Graphisoft Case Study

Preview of the Nikken Sekkei Ltd. Case Study

Nikken Sekkei Ltd. - Customer Case Study

Nikken Sekkei Ltd., a leading Japanese architectural design firm, sought to broaden BIM adoption and drive ICT‑based innovation across complex projects. Facing challenges such as detailed environmental and airflow simulation, computational design, integrated MEP/structure coordination, clear client and contractor visualization, and strict cost constraints on projects like the “On the Water” guest house and Narita Airport Passenger Terminal No.3, they turned to Graphisoft’s ARCHICAD as their primary BIM platform.

Using Graphisoft ARCHICAD, Nikken Sekkei implemented end‑to‑end BIM workflows—early 3D modeling, thermal and airflow simulations, and coordinated MEP/structural design—enabling deliberate, simulation‑driven decisions for the 751.92 m² “On the Water” project and the 62,281.22 m² Narita Terminal No.3. The ARCHICAD‑based approach improved client and contractor understanding, cut many site visits, supported low‑cost/high‑function solutions for the LCC terminal, and delivered built results that matched the 3D models, demonstrating measurable gains in coordination and project delivery with Graphisoft’s tools.
