Marc Koehler Architects faced the challenge of delivering Superlofts Blok Y, a highly flexible, cooperative housing project in Utrecht where 30 homeowners would customize unique interiors within a shared concrete hull. To manage participation, prefabrication details, strict sustainability targets and complex coordination between hull, interiors and consultants, Marc Koehler Architects adopted Graphisoft solutions—notably ARCHICAD (used in versions 19–20) alongside BIMcloud and BIMx—to support a collaborative, BIM-driven workflow.

Graphisoft’s ARCHICAD tools (hotlink modules, CineRender, schedules, IFC exchange) and BIMx/BIMcloud collaboration enabled MKA to streamline production of one exterior model plus multiple unique interior models, support simultaneous work across an office-wide setup (~25 workstations, 30 designers), and deliver BIMx models to homeowners and contractors. The Graphisoft-powered workflow helped realize a completed 2017 building that won the 2018 BNA Building of the Year award, achieved an EPC of 0.3 and an average GPR of 7.5, integrated 180 solar panels, and successfully supported the cooperative, tailor-made Superlofts delivery.
