A Graphisoft Case Study
FJMT Studio, the multi-disciplinary architecture practice behind the Charles Perkins Centre at the University of Sydney, faced a fast‑tracked, high‑complexity brief: a AUD 385m, 50,000 m2 research building with a full‑height atrium, intricate curvilinear stair geometries and overlapping design, documentation and construction phases requiring tight coordination between two architectural teams and many consultants. To meet these challenges they adopted Graphisoft’s ARCHICAD platform (plus Teamwork/BIMcloud and the Rhino–Grasshopper–ARCHICAD Live Connection) as the core of their BIM workflow.
Using Graphisoft’s tools as a central BIM database, FJMT Studio ran IFC coordination, clash detection and Teamwork collaboration so that some 20 designers (supported by 97 ARCHICAD licenses) could work concurrently across offices and trades. Graphisoft’s solution enabled rapid element reservation/modification, packaged documentation for a fast‑tracked build, and delivery of a facilities‑management model—improving productivity, resolving complex 3D interfaces and allowing the team to channel documentation efficiencies back into design.
