Carne delivers Saint-Nazaire Aquatic Center with Graphisoft in a 2015-2017 BIM collaboration

Coste Architectures was selected to design the Saint-Nazaire Aquatic Center, a complex project with wave-like roofs and high environmental targets, for the developer CARENE. Their challenge was to ensure seamless coordination among numerous specialists, including structural and MEP engineers, while minimizing errors and costs. The vendor, Graphisoft, provided Archicad BIM software as the core tool to manage this collaborative process.

The solution centered on using Graphisoft's Archicad to create an OPEN BIM workflow with IFC exchanges, coordinating seamlessly with partner software like Tekla Structures and Revit MEP. This allowed for early problem detection and iterative collaboration from the design phase. The results included winning the French BIM d’Or award, securing client confidence for BIM use in later project phases, and demonstrating significant time savings. The developer, CARENE, was so convinced by the benefits that it decided to train its internal teams on BIM for future operation and maintenance.
