A Graphisoft Case Study
The customer was the architectural consortium, including firms like CoBe Architecture & Paysage and KOZ Architectes, tasked with designing the Athletes' Village for the Paris 2024 Olympics. Their multi-faceted challenge was to create a large-scale, sustainable development with a double lifecycle—serving first as an athletes' village and later as permanent residential and commercial space—all within a tight six-year timeline and requiring seamless collaboration between multiple architecture firms using different software.
The solution centered on using Graphisoft's Archicad BIM software and its BIMcloud collaboration platform. The team used Archicad's renovation filter to visualize and plan the transition between the two project phases and relied on its IFC-based model exchange for coordination between the four Archicad and three Revit teams. Graphisoft's tools also enabled environmental analysis, like sun studies for optimal landscaping. The result was the successful design and delivery of an innovative, low-carbon district built with timber and other sustainable materials, achieving rigorous energy standards and destined to become a lasting community of 6,000 residents and 6,000 workers.
