Archivolt Architecten Bv - Customer Case Study

Archivolt Architecten Bv was commissioned to renovate Het Schip, a nearly 100‑year‑old national monument in downtown Amsterdam, into 82 modern apartments within tight historic constraints. The team faced complex challenges: intricate sculptural brick façades, limited original interiors, strict BIM requirements from the client, and the need to embed rich non‑geometric data for contractors, quantity surveyors and facilities management. To meet these demands they adopted Graphisoft solutions—principally ARCHICAD for modeling and Graphisoft’s BIMx/BIMcloud apps for mobile model access and collaboration.

Graphisoft’s ARCHICAD was used to build a single Teamwork model (about 550,000 polygons) with advanced morph objects and IFC mapping to capture both geometry and data, while BIMx/BIMx PRO and BIMcloud enabled digital on‑site workflows on iPads. The combined approach made the large model manageable, put IFC data into contractors’ and supervisors’ hands, and supported a digital handover. Using these Graphisoft tools (and complementary issue management via BIMcollab) cut coordination overhead dramatically—meetings were reduced from four hours to about 30 minutes—and resulted in daily on‑site use by planners and supervisors, faster issue resolution, and smoother construction and facilities‑management handover.
