A Graphical Networks Case Study
Liberty University, the world's largest Christian university in Lynchburg, VA, needed a better way to visualize and document three data centers, an on‑campus equipment room and a colocation site two hours away. Their team relied on spreadsheets, Visio and SharePoint, which made searches slow, collaboration difficult and site visits frequent. Liberty selected Graphical Networks’ netTerrain for web-based visualization, documentation, permission controls and power/environment monitoring.
Graphical Networks implemented netTerrain (including optional professional services and on-site training), enabling a five-person core team to view their data centers from room level down to device ports, set eight permission levels for stakeholders, and run custom reports and environmental overlays in a browser. The result: documented, information-rich data centers, reduced man‑hours, elimination of time-consuming drives to the colocation site, near‑instant searches and faster capacity planning — delivering measurable time and cost savings for Liberty University.
