Bay Computer Associates, an electronics and software design firm whose work includes many medical devices, needed a better way to verify code for a life-saving mobile app, ZOLL Medical’s PocketCPR® for iPhone. When a customer requested advanced static analysis during development, BCA chose GrammaTech and its CodeSonar® product after relying on visual inspections and ad hoc tools.

With GrammaTech’s CodeSonar, BCA could analyze code directories quickly, centralize reports on a company server, and fit the tool into its workflow with little disruption. BCA said CodeSonar saved time finding memory leaks and buffer overruns, sped debugging during code integration, and improved code quality before testing; after about nine months of use, engineers across the company were embracing it.
