Case Study: PayIt achieves cloud-native observability at scale with Grafana and Prometheus

A Grafana Case Study

Preview of the PayIt Case Study

With Multiplying Microservices Running on Kubernetes, PayIt Turned to Grafana and Prometheus for Observability at Cloud Native Scale

PayIt, a government-focused company with a rapidly growing microservices architecture on Kubernetes, was struggling to keep visibility across expanding clusters and services. As its environment scaled from one cluster to multiple clusters and its logs and alerts became noisier, the team needed a more cost-friendly, cloud-native way to monitor infrastructure and help developers diagnose issues faster. They turned to Grafana and Prometheus for observability at scale.

With Grafana, PayIt built 36 dashboards across hundreds of panels, using community dashboards and custom views for Kubernetes, Java, node services, and business-critical workflows. Grafana helped the team spot issues before they affected users, reduce alert noise, support non-engineers with self-service visibility, and resolve incidents faster — including finding one system-wide problem in about an hour instead of several hours and multiple war rooms. Grafana also improved customer experience by helping PayIt prevent duplicate emails and better track delivery issues, all while processing about 45 million logs a day across nine Kubernetes clusters.
