Tinder, the popular dating app, needed a better way to monitor hundreds of microservices and infrastructure components as it scaled from AWS EC2 into Kubernetes. Using Grafana with CloudWatch and Prometheus, the team set out to centralize metrics, improve visibility into service health, and support both real-time and historical monitoring.

Grafana helped Tinder build a scalable observability stack with per-service Prometheus servers, archived metrics, Kubernetes monitoring, and automated dashboard creation. The result was more reliable metrics collection, better performance for expensive queries, more efficient long-term retention of key data, and easier monitoring across clusters and environments.
