Natel Energy, a water and energy innovation company, needed a better way to monitor and control its hydropower plants, replacing cluttered industrial control UIs and slow, manual reporting workflows. Using Grafana and its plugin ecosystem, the team looked for a more flexible dashboard-based approach to support plant operations, performance analysis, and remote monitoring at both existing and new sites.

Grafana helped Natel Energy build a cleaner operations UI, graph data from InfluxDB, add camera views and hydraulic system monitoring, and even create custom panels for efficiency analysis and license tracking. At a remote Maine plant, Grafana became the core UI for remote diagnostics, direct control, and operator-specific views, replacing the previous control stack and simplifying changes as needs evolved. While the case study does not cite hard numerical metrics, Natel Energy reports that Grafana replaced expensive, manual processes with much easier-to-use graphs and a more adaptable control platform.
