Monitoring remote user workstations with Prometheus, Ansible, and Grafana Cloud

Ocrolus, a fintech automation platform, needed a way to monitor nearly 1,000 remote Linux user workstations that supported production business functions with tight SLAs. Using Grafana and Grafana Cloud alongside Prometheus, Ansible, and Teleport, the team set out to collect meaningful performance data without building a one-off remote management solution.

Grafana helped Ocrolus deploy Grafana Agent across all workstations so metrics could be pushed reliably to Grafana Cloud with minimal resource overhead. With centralized visibility and custom metrics from the text file collector, Ocrolus could make data-driven decisions such as moving systems to solid-state drives, while scaling monitoring to roughly 1,000 hosts with ease.
