How to monitor SLOs with Grafana, Grafana Loki, Prometheus, and Pyrra Inside the Daimler Truck observability stack

Daimler Truck uses tb.lx, its digital product studio for connected vehicle operations, to ingest, store, process, and share near-real-time telemetry from trucks and buses around the world. With throughput reaching about 3,000 messages or 7 MB of data per second, the team needed a way to manage availability, latency, timeliness, and cost across a Kubernetes-based service.

Using Grafana’s LGTM stack with Grafana, Loki, Prometheus, and Pyrra, Daimler Truck built an observability system with dashboards, alerts, histograms, and error-budget tracking. Grafana helped the team define and monitor SLOs, automate Prometheus rules through Pyrra, and test across development, staging, and production, resulting in clearer operational baselines and improved ability to safeguard uptime while minimizing latency.
