Case Study: Kambi achieves scalable observability with Grafana Cloud

A Grafana Case Study

How Kambi migrated from an in-house Graphite solution to Grafana Cloud

Kambi, a sports betting technology company, was running an in-house, on-prem Graphite monitoring setup that had become overloaded as the business grew to around 500 microservices and roughly 200,000 incoming metrics messages per second. The system was dropping metrics, running out of disk space and CPU, and becoming difficult to manage, making it clear Kambi needed a more scalable observability solution from Grafana.

Kambi built an open source traffic-shaping tool called Hadrianus to filter and mirror metrics, then used it to migrate data to Grafana Cloud. Grafana Cloud handled the full production load, gave Kambi a path to gradually move from Graphite to Prometheus, and fit well with the team’s existing Grafana usage; the new setup delivered an 80% reduction in load on the old Graphite environment and stabilized operations.
