Solo.io, working with Grafana, needed a faster way to debug and run postmortem analysis across a large microservices environment built on Istio. Instead of manually checking logs service by service, the team wanted a way to trace requests end to end and quickly pinpoint where failures were happening.

Grafana’s solution used Istio for service-mesh observability together with Grafana Tempo for tracing and Grafana Loki for logging, all visualized in Grafana. With trace IDs propagated through requests and logs linked directly to traces, Solo.io could move from slow, manual investigation to near-instant debugging and clearer request-level visibility across the system.
