Case Study: Eurac Research advances Alpine climate monitoring with Grafana

A Grafana Case Study

Preview of the Eurac Research Case Study

How Eurac observes climate change in the Alps

Eurac Research uses Grafana to monitor and study climate change in the Alps through a long-term ecological research site in the Italian Alps. Their challenge is managing and making sense of data from 24 remote microclimatic stations spread across an elevation gradient from 1,000 m to 2,700 m, in harsh conditions with solar-powered sensors, unstable connectivity, snow, storms, and wildlife impacts.

With Grafana, Eurac Research built dashboards for infrastructure monitoring, maintenance, trend analysis, and public data sharing, using it with InfluxDB to visualize meteorological and biophysical data in near real time. Grafana helped the team quickly detect bad data and maintenance issues, explore spatial and temporal patterns, and create engaging public dashboards for outreach and stakeholder engagement across the monitoring network.
