How Dapper Labs uses Grafana Cloud to meet the global demand of NFT-mania

Dapper Labs, the blockchain gaming and NFT company behind CryptoKitties and NBA Top Shot, needed a way to keep up with explosive global demand as its traffic, users, and metrics grew rapidly. As its observability needs expanded, the team faced the challenge of managing retention, scaling monitoring, and giving developers better visibility without adding more operational overhead, so it turned to Grafana Cloud.

With Grafana Cloud, Dapper Labs centralized metrics, logs, and traces in one observability stack alongside Prometheus, Loki, Tempo, PagerDuty, Kubernetes, and Google Cloud Platform. The move reduced the burden of self-managing monitoring infrastructure and helped the team monitor more than 4 million active series and about 12 million data points per minute, including up to 2 TB of logs per day. Grafana also enabled faster incident detection and debugging, with the team saying they can catch outages before cloud providers report them and resolve roughly 80% of issues using metrics alone.
