Hiya, a company that provides caller identity and spam blocking services for more than 120 million users, needed better control over its metrics and a more cost-effective monitoring setup as it grew its Kubernetes and container-based infrastructure. After being frustrated with its existing monitoring vendor and the lack of filtering, aggregation, and visibility, Hiya turned to Grafana Cloud Hosted Prometheus from Grafana.
With Grafana, Hiya migrated years of dashboards, alerts, and legacy metrics in just one quarter, while also adapting cron job metrics and PromQL-based workflows. The move gave Hiya deeper insight into billing and metric cardinality, helped the team filter out unnecessary data, and reduced active series from about 560,000 to 400,000. Hiya also reported saving a substantial amount of money, while gaining the single-pane-of-glass operational view it wanted across clusters and regions.
