Carvana, the retail/e-commerce platform for buying and selling used vehicles, needed a new load and performance testing solution after Microsoft announced it would sunset Visual Studio’s load testing features. The quality engineering team was looking for a tool that could handle complex, realistic test scenarios during peak demand periods while still being easy for developers to adopt. Grafana Cloud k6 was selected as the vendor’s product to help replace their legacy testing approach.

Carvana built a reusable testing framework on top of the k6 JavaScript API and Grafana Cloud k6, enabling engineers to scaffold tests quickly, reuse code across functional, load, and performance testing, and automate scheduled tests and scenarios. With Grafana’s reporting and real-time graphical insights, the team gained greater confidence in results and in application readiness. The outcome was 100% faster test creation, improved developer participation, stronger leadership confidence, and a more agile continuous performance testing process.
