TU Delft runs its campus heating system on autopilot with Gradyent’s real-time Digital Twin

Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) needed a modern control system to automate its campus heating operations and maximize efficiency from multiple heat sources, including a new geothermal installation, to support its goal of a CO2-neutral campus. To address this challenge, TU Delft partnered with vendor Gradyent to implement its Digital Twin solution.

Gradyent's Digital Twin created a real-time digital copy of the entire heating system, providing end-to-end autopilot capabilities. The solution enables 24-hour demand forecasting, optimizes supply temperatures, and maximizes the use of sustainable geothermal energy, paving the way for faster decarbonization and greater overall system efficiency for the university.
