Ennatuurlijk uses a Digital Twin to optimise their heating system

Ennatuurlijk, a district heating company in the Netherlands, faced the challenge of optimizing its complex fourth-generation heating network. This system reuses waste heat multiple times through cascading systems and heat pumps, and the company sought to increase its sustainability and efficiency. Partnering with Gradyent, they aimed to build a Digital Twin of their heating system to gain deeper operational insights.

Gradyent's Digital Twin provided a detailed, real-time view of the network, enabling Ennatuurlijk to find the optimal balance between flow and temperature. The solution identified key optimization opportunities and led to annual cost savings exceeding €100,000. Specific results included increased heat pump efficiency, a 5% reduction in grid heat losses, and significant electricity savings totaling 268 MWh.
