The customer, Netflix, faced challenges with developer productivity and experience, as long test cycles, often over an hour, created significant friction and waiting times for developers. To address this, Netflix partnered with the vendor, Gradle, and utilized their Develocity product, specifically its Test Distribution capability, to accelerate their build and test processes.

The solution implemented by Gradle used Test Distribution to enable parallel test execution across multiple machines, drastically reducing test cycle times. As a result, Netflix reduced a 62-minute test cycle to under 5 minutes in one application, allowing developers to run tests more than ten times as often. This hard metric from Gradle's technology delivered a major improvement to both developer productivity and the overall developer experience at Netflix.
