A Grabyo Case Study
Film 45, an IMG Endeavor production agency, was tasked with extending coverage of the TCS New York City Marathon by producing four simultaneous live streams for the men’s open, women’s open, men’s wheelchair, and women’s wheelchair races. Because the event had no fixed studio infrastructure and the on-site compound was already heavily used for the main ESPN/ABC broadcast, Film 45 needed a flexible remote production workflow with minimal on-site equipment.
Using Grabyo Producer and Grabyo Studio, Film 45 built a hybrid cloud workflow with remote operators producing each stream in virtual control rooms, supported by on-site staff and live camera feeds ingested in SRT format. Grabyo enabled customized switching, audio mixing, graphics, and live clipping for social distribution, while all four feeds were delivered directly to the marathon app. The in-app streams drew over 200,000 live viewers, a 14% increase year over year, and the cloud-based approach delivered an estimated $12,000–$15,000 in savings versus traditional hardware production.
