A GPS Insight Case Study
Crescent Electric Supply Company (CESCO) is a national electrical distributor with a large fleet (300 vehicles company-wide, five at the Salt Lake City branch) that needed better visibility into deliveries, mileage and personnel performance. Warehouse leadership launched a GPS tracking initiative to quantify fleet activity, improve delivery counts and cycle times, and monitor total mileage, cost per mile and cost per ticket.
After a 30-day pilot, CESCO chose GPS Insight and immediately identified inefficient routes, unauthorized stops and routing mistakes. In the first month the Salt Lake City location cut 1,605 miles ($4,815 at $3.00/mile), achieving a reported 93% ROI from reduced mileage alone, increased transaction tickets from 790 to 814, extended vehicle life, and improved customer service through automated landmark alerts that prevented delays, corrected delivery errors and resolved complaints.
