A GovOS Case Study
The City of Sedona faced a fast-growing short-term rental (STR) market—about 1,250 properties and 7,445 ads—while Arizona’s 2016 preemption law limited local regulation. Sedona needed a way to collect emergency contact information, handle resident complaints, and gather reliable data on STR impacts without overstepping state legal constraints.
In 2020 Sedona implemented GovOS’s Short-Term Rental Solution, a tailored system combining online registration and a 24/7 bilingual hotline for complaints. Since September 2020 GovOS has captured emergency contacts for 84% of STRs and helped resolve more than 260 complaints in nine months, improving outreach, complaint resolution, and the city’s ability to analyze STR trends.
