A GovOS Case Study
Oceanside, CA — a coastal city of about 175,622 that saw rapid growth in short-term rentals (6,114 ads and 700+ properties) — adopted a June 2019 ordinance requiring STR operators to register and pay a $250 annual permit. To enforce the new rules and raise compliance, the city issued an RFP to find a platform to manage permitting, collections and complaints.
Oceanside selected the GovOS Short-Term Rental Solution (formerly LODGINGRevs) for registration, Transient Occupancy Tax collection, compliance monitoring and a 24/7 bilingual complaint hotline. In just over a year the platform helped the city collect $8.8M in TOT and permitting fees (rising to $14.5M with batch checks) and achieve a 93% compliance rate.
