The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) needed to streamline cost management and accurately forecast long-term replacement and sustainment costs for its property assets. To meet this challenge, the DOE engaged Gordian to leverage its RSMeans data and cost engineering expertise.

Gordian developed a Microsoft Excel-based Replacement Plan Value System, creating 75 customized building models. This solution provided the DOE with a powerful tool to generate auditable sustainment costs and a compliant ten-year site plan. As a result of working with Gordian, the DOE can now forecast and budget building replacement costs quickly and accurately, while its enhanced reporting capabilities have been exceedingly well received by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB).
