A Gordian Case Study
The University of North Texas faced a significant challenge when renovating a building for its Child Development Lab, as the discovery of structural damage from a previous fire and the realization that the building was actually several combined structures led to a continually evolving scope of work. With a tight scheduling window to complete the project, UNT employed Gordian's Job Order Contracting solution to streamline the construction procurement process.
Gordian's solution enabled the project to stay on its tight deadline despite the changing requirements, which grew to include replacing a 50+ year-old plumbing system and installing new fire safety systems. Through value engineering, cost overruns were minimized and the renovated lab was completed on time for the new year. The project's success, completed for $1.8 million, led to UNT and its contractor receiving the 2016 Harry H. Mellon Award for Excellence.
