Schools Tackle Summer Maintenance with Job Order Contracting

Parma City School District worked with Gordian to complete a series of needed maintenance projects during the summer break. Four of the district’s 14 schools required work to receive long-term warranties and extend the life of critical building components, but the tight timeline made traditional bidding impractical. The district turned to Gordian’s Job Order Contracting (JOC) solution, accessed through the ezIQC® cooperative purchasing program, to move quickly.

Gordian helped Parma City School District award the work to West Roofing Systems and get started within six weeks on a $230,750 purchase order. Three schools received pressure washing and two silicone coatings, while John Muir Elementary received a new SPF roof with top coating plus replacement of gutters, flashing, and sheet metal. Gordian’s solution enabled the projects to finish by August 14, in time for the school year, and all four buildings received 20-year contractor warranties.
