San Francisco Public Works faced the challenge of transforming an unused, littered parcel of land into a sustainable tree nursery to expand the city's canopy, all within an aggressive four-month timeline ahead of a major international summit. They turned to their established Job Order Contracting (JOC) program with vendor Gordian to meet this urgent need.

Using the Gordian JOC solution, the city's contractor was able to begin work immediately, building a nursery for 1,000 trees and installing solar-powered modular buildings. Despite a last-minute issue with hazardous soil, the project was completed on time. The result was a beautiful, fully sustainable green space that removed a local eyesore and will provide environmental benefits for the city.
