Minnesota School Crams Renovations into Winter Break

Duluth Public Schools needed to relocate students, faculty, and staff into a renovated closed school within a hard January deadline and a tight $3 million budget. To make the ambitious timeline possible, the district turned to Gordian and its ezIQC® solution, a Job Order Contracting procurement method suited for renovations and repair projects.

Using Gordian’s ezIQC through Sourcewell and contractor Kraus-Anderson Construction, the district completed the work in just 68 days. The team used value engineering and cost-saving measures such as reusing water fountains and retrofitting light fixtures, bringing the project in at $2.7 million, under budget and ahead of schedule.
