A Gordian Case Study
Louisiana State University (LSU), a triple-designated land-, sea- and space-grant institution, needed a long-term plan to guide campus development, renovation, and investment decisions as part of its Master Plan. LSU worked with Gordian, through its Sightlines facilities assessment and planning service, to evaluate existing academic, research, support, and infrastructure needs across the campus and determine how best to align facilities with future academic priorities.
Gordian’s Sightlines team assessed 7.4 million gross square feet, validated conditions and costs, and helped LSU segment buildings into strategic portfolios to support demolition, renovation, and infrastructure investment decisions. The analysis identified $893.6 million in total need, with $588.2 million requiring attention within three years; proposed actions would address $83.4 million through demolitions, $176.6 million through renovations, and $120.0 million through infrastructure investment, reducing immediate need to $398.5 million and helping LSU create an actionable capital plan through 2031.
