The Los Angeles Unified School District needed to construct a unique, ADA-compliant modular classroom building from recycled shipping containers on an extremely aggressive timeline to be ready for students returning from spring break. Their traditional procurement process was too slow, taking an average of 120 days, so they turned to their Gordian Job Order Contracting program to find a faster solution.

Gordian's Job Order Contracting solution provided the streamlined and flexible process required for this time-sensitive project. The vendor's method drastically shortened the procurement timeline, enabling the project to be completed on schedule and within budget with only minor change orders. As a result, the new "green concept" building was fully operational for the students' return, and the project was recognized with a 2016 Harry H. Mellon Award of Merit.
