A Gordian Case Study
Ithaca College faced a significant challenge with a growing deferred maintenance backlog that had reached $251 million. Much of their aging campus was constructed with poor quality materials, and projections showed their maintenance costs would continue to rise. To build a data-based foundation for a new campus Master Plan, the college enlisted Gordian to conduct a facilities assessment.
Gordian's analysis identified $175 million in deferred maintenance projects requiring attention over the next decade. This assessment allowed Ithaca College to categorize its facilities investments and directly inform its Master Plan strategy. Using Gordian's data, the college secured $40 million in funding over five years to address the deferred maintenance backlog, providing a clear and approved framework for the future transformation of its campus.
