Case Study: City of Mississauga improves asset management and capital planning with Gordian

A Gordian Case Study

City of Mississauga boosts capital planning with Gordian for 228 buildings worth over CAD $2 billion

The City of Mississauga faced a challenge in managing its extensive portfolio of buildings due to a lack of complete condition information. This made it difficult to develop defensible capital budgets, prioritize projects effectively, and support funding requests for deferred maintenance. To address this, the city partnered with Gordian to implement a facility asset management program using the VFA Facility Condition Assessment service.

Gordian's solution involved conducting detailed facility condition assessments on 228 buildings in a phased approach, providing the city with comprehensive data on asset conditions, ages, and lifecycles. As a result, the City of Mississauga gained the objective data needed to run funding scenarios, prioritize projects, and create defensible capital plans. The program provided increased visibility into its portfolio, which has a replacement value of over CAD $2 billion, enabling accurate long-term capital forecasting and budget development.
