California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo needed to renovate its long-untouched Choral Rehearsal Room 218 to improve both acoustics and aesthetics for rehearsal and performance use. Gordian supported the project through Job Order Contracting, helping the university deliver the upgrade with a cost-effective procurement approach.

Gordian’s solution included new wall and ceiling finishes, absorptive and reflective acoustical treatments, a new soffit to reduce mechanical noise, and coordinated finishes that preserved and enhanced the space. The renovated 2,200 sq. ft. room was completed in October 2015 for $350,000, and now serves not only rehearsals and classes but also recitals for vocal and instrumental groups.
