A Gordian Case Study
The Arizona Department of Administration, through its Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT), faced a critical emergency when a massive monsoon and flood severely damaged a 24-mile stretch of US Route 89A with debris and boulders, threatening local tourism and requiring a rapid response beyond state funding limits. Using Gordian's ezIQC® procurement solution, ADOT was able to quickly engage qualified local contractors to assess the damage and begin the complex remediation work.
Gordian's solution enabled crews to mobilize within 11 days of proposal submission, allowing ADOT to repair the roadway, including replacing damaged pavement and drainage structures, under emergency circumstances and within strict work limitations. As a result, the project was completed in record time ahead of another looming storm, and its success was recognized with the 2015 Harry H. Mellon Award of Excellence in Job Order Contracting.
