A Gooii Case Study
Rufford Abbey, a historical site managed by Parkwood Outdoors as part of Nottinghamshire County Council, faced the challenge of enhancing its visitor experience by making its rich history more immersive and engaging. The vendor, Gooii, was tasked with developing an extended reality (XR) solution that would leverage new 5G technology to bring the abbey's past to life for guests.
Gooii developed the world's first holographic Augmented Reality ghost walk. The solution used Microsoft HoloLens2 headsets and a new 5G network to project a pool of over 40 different CGI and live-action ghosts into the real-world environment, allowing groups of visitors to share a unique experience where historical characters appeared out of the fog and walked through walls. This innovative application of AR technology provided a deeply immersive experience, successfully commercialized and handed over to the client for public delivery.
