Noumi launches NFC digital receipts with Gooii to help tackle 11 billion paper receipts a year

Gooii partnered with Noumi, a startup founded to reduce the environmental and financial cost of paper receipts. The challenge was to develop a contactless method for retailers to transfer purchase receipts directly to customers' mobile phones, aiming to eliminate paper waste, save costs, and improve the customer experience.

The solution was a cloud-based digital receipts app for iOS and Android, developed by Gooii. Using NFC technology and a plug-in hardware device from partner Touché Technology, the system intercepts receipt data at the point of sale and transfers it to a user's phone with a simple tap. Gooii delivered a successful Minimum Viable Product, which helped Noumi secure investment. The solution removes the need for paper, offers offline functionality, and provides secure, cloud-based receipt storage for customers.
