A Gooii Case Study
Jisc, the UK digital, data and technology agency for education and research, sought an innovative way to engage delegates at its Digifest event on the topic of digital sustainability. The challenge was to create a memorable and collaborative learning experience that would showcase the potential of new technologies in education. They commissioned vendor Gooii, a chosen supplier on their AR/VR framework, to develop an Augmented Reality exhibition.
Gooii designed and developed a large-scale, networked Augmented Reality experience called the (e)co Garden using Microsoft HoloLens 2 headsets. The solution allowed visitors to collaboratively plant virtual seeds, clean a polluted waterfall, and interact with educational holographic films. The project was a major success, resulting in a queue of people waiting to participate. The engagement was so effective that it led to a £1500 donation to a rewilding charity based on delegate activity, demonstrating significant measurable impact alongside the immersive educational outcomes.
