Case Study: CORE Project achieves immersive AR event engagement with Gooii

A Gooii Case Study

Preview of the CORE Project (Connecting Cambridgeshire) Case Study

CORE Project creates the world’s first AR car show with Gooii for Cambridge Corn Exchange’s 150-year history

The CORE Project, led by Connecting Cambridgeshire, sought to explore innovative public engagement using a new 5G network. Their challenge was to utilize this technology to bring the historic legacy of the Cambridge Corn Exchange to life, specifically by re-imagining the vintage car shows that were once held there in an immersive and modern way. The vendor, Gooii, was engaged to develop an augmented reality (AR) experience to meet this goal.

Gooii developed a groundbreaking AR car show for live audiences. They created detailed 3D models of historic vehicles, which were then streamed via 5G to AR headsets, allowing participants to view the cars as holograms, walk around them, and even step inside. The solution was highly successful, with trial participants providing overwhelmingly positive feedback, describing the experience as "mind-blowing" and "seamless" and noting that it "exceeded all expectations." Gooii proved that AR can successfully transform a static venue into an interactive, deeply engaging storytelling platform.
